Hunting

Hunting is allowed on most land overseen by the Stanislaus National Forest and U.S. Bureau of Land Management, although state hunting regulations must be followed.

Those hunting in the forest are advised to use designated U.S. Forest Service maps to avoid hunting on game refuges and private land.

There are also restrictions pertaining to how close firearms can be discharged to campgrounds, recreational sites and roads. Each of the forest’s four ranger stations have maps showing state-designated hunting areas in addition to firearm safety regulations.

A hunting license must be obtained in advance through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Maps of seasonal hunting zones can be found at www.dfg.ca.gov, or call the department's regional office in Fresno at 559-243-4005 for more information.Hunting is not allowed in Yosemite National Park.
